Getting started
Sign up, add your first monitor and make sure alerts reach you.
This guide takes you from a new account to a monitor that alerts you when your site goes down. It takes a few minutes.
1. Create your account
- Go to panel.uptimeduck.com/register.
- Enter your first name, last name, email address and a password, then complete the human check.
- Open the email we send you and click the link to verify your account. The panel shows Check your inbox until you do.
- Sign in with your email and password.
Every account starts on the Free plan. No credit card is required. See Plans & limits for what each plan includes.
2. Add your first monitor
The first time you sign in without any monitors, the panel opens the Welcome screen and asks What should we watch?
- Enter your website, for example
example.com. If you leave outhttps://, it is added for you. - Click Start monitoring. UptimeDuck creates an HTTP(s) monitor named after the site, using your plan’s defaults. On the Free plan that is a check every 3 minutes from 2 regions.
- If an alert channel is linked to the monitor, a test alert is sent to it straight away, so you can see what an alert looks like.
- Click Go to my monitors to see the new monitor on the Uptime Monitors page.
Skip for now takes you to the Uptime Monitors page without creating anything. You can add monitors there at any time with every option available: TCP and Ping checks, check interval, timeout, regions, accepted status codes and more. See Monitor types.
3. Choose where alerts go
Alerts are only sent to the alert channels linked to a monitor. You manage channels on the Notification Channels page in the panel and choose them for each monitor when you create or edit it.
If you create a monitor without choosing any channels, UptimeDuck links your enabled channels for you. If you have none yet, it creates an email channel for your verified account email, plus a push channel for each phone where you are signed in to the UptimeDuck app, and links those.
On the Free plan, each monitor can use 1 notification channel. Paid plans have no limit. All channel types, including Slack, Discord, Telegram, Matrix and SMS, are described in Alert channels.
4. Get push alerts on your phone
- Install the UptimeDuck app from the App Store or Google Play.
- Sign in with your UptimeDuck account.
- Your phone appears automatically on the Notification Channels page as an UptimeDuck App channel. Link it to the monitors you want push alerts for.
You can rename the phone’s channel in the panel. Its device details are filled in by the app and are read-only.
5. Next steps
- Install the server agent to track CPU, RAM, disks and network on a Linux server.
- Monitor cron jobs with heartbeats.
- Connect a Kubernetes cluster with Helm (paid plans).
- Group monitors into projects and publish a status page from Projects & Status Pages.
- Invite your team from Team Management.
