Is It Down Right Now?

Find out if a website is down for everyone or just you. We check it from several regions at once and show the status code and response time from each.

Check a website

Enter a domain or a full URL. Addresses without a scheme are checked over https://. Standard ports plus 8000, 8080, 8443 and 8888 are supported.

Is it down for everyone or just me?

When a site will not load, the problem can be the site itself, your network, your DNS resolver or something in between. This checker sends the request from UptimeDuck’s monitoring regions instead of your device, so the answer does not depend on your connection.

Each region makes one request and reports:

  • Status code: the HTTP response, such as 200 for OK, 301 for a redirect or 503 when the server is unavailable.
  • Response time: how long the full request took from that region, in milliseconds.
  • Result: Up when the server answers with a 2xx or 3xx code, Error for a 4xx code, and Down for a 5xx code, a timeout or no connection.

If every region reaches the site, it is up and the problem is most likely on your side: try another network, clear your DNS cache or check your firewall. If no region reaches it, the site is down for everyone. A mix usually points to a regional network, CDN or DNS issue.

Frequently asked questions

How do I know if a website is down for everyone?+
Enter the address above. The checker requests the site from several regions at once. If none of them get a response, the site is down for everyone, not only for you.
The site is up here but does not load for me. Why?+
The fault is probably between you and the site: your internet connection, a stale DNS record on your device or router, a VPN or firewall, or a block on your network. Try mobile data or another network, and flush your DNS cache.
What do the status codes mean?+
Codes from 200 to 299 mean the page loaded. 300 to 399 are redirects to another address, which is normal for many sites. 400 to 499 mean the server answered but refused the request, for example 403 when bot protection blocks automated checks or 404 for a missing page. 500 to 599 mean the server or a proxy in front of it failed.
Why is the response time different in each region?+
Distance and network routes add latency. A server in Europe answers faster to a European region than to one in America or Asia. Sites behind a CDN usually respond quickly everywhere.
Which addresses can I check?+
Public websites over http or https, on the default ports or on 8000, 8080, 8443 and 8888. Private, local and reserved network addresses are refused, and each request times out after 8 seconds.
Can I get an alert when my site goes down?+
Yes. An UptimeDuck monitor runs this check for you on a schedule and alerts you as soon as the site stops responding. The Free plan includes 10 uptime monitors checked every 3 minutes. Create a free account to start.
